Gus Logie Inspires the Next Generation at Jersey Titans
A special visit filled with cricket wisdom, encouragement and timeless lessons about discipline, hard work, skill development and persistent daily practice.
Jersey Titans Cricket Academy had the privilege of welcoming Gus Logie, former West Indies international cricketer and experienced international coach, for a memorable visit with our academy players, coaches and parents.
The opportunity to spend time with someone who has experienced cricket at the highest level created a conversation that extended far beyond batting, bowling and fielding technique.
The discussion centered around what it truly takes to improve as a cricketer: discipline, hard work, skill development, consistency, patience, personal responsibility and the willingness to practice every day.
Talent Creates Opportunity. Discipline, Hard Work and Persistent Practice Turn Opportunity Into Performance.

Gus Logieβs Message to Young Cricketers
During his interaction with Jersey Titans academy players, the conversation went beyond natural ability. Young cricketers were encouraged to think about the habits that allow talent to grow over time.
Discipline
Arrive prepared, listen to coaches, respect teammates and opponents, take care of your body and do the right things even when nobody is watching.
Hard Work
Work on weaknesses, repeat drills, improve fitness and continue working even when progress feels slow.
Skills
Batting, bowling and fielding improve through deliberate repetition, sound fundamentals and gradual development.
Daily Practice
Improvement comes from showing up again and again, practicing with purpose and making small gains over time.
Small Improvements Add Up
βTalent may open the door. Discipline, hard work and persistent practice help you keep moving forward.β
Becoming Better Every Day
Young players often focus on immediate results: How many runs did I score? How many wickets did I take? Did we win? Did I make the team?
That question changes the focus from short-term results to long-term development.
The goal is not simply to become better than another player. The goal is to become better than the player you were yesterday.
A Special Meet & Greet with the Jersey Titans Coaching Team
Gus Logie also spent time interacting with the Jersey Titans coaching team, creating an opportunity to exchange cricket experiences and ideas around developing the next generation of players.
Youth player development, fundamentals, practice habits, match preparation, discipline, skill development and the importance of creating competitive but positive training environments were all part of the larger conversation.
Your Contribution Matters
Young players may be the ones stepping onto the field, but there is often a parent working quietly behind the scenes to make that opportunity possible.
PLAYER + COACH + PARENT
Must do the work, practice consistently and accept responsibility for improvement.
Provides knowledge, structure, feedback, development and opportunity.
Provides the support system that allows the young athlete to participate and grow.
SHOW UP.
WORK HARD.
LEARN.
REPEAT.
Development happens during ordinary practice sessions β when a player repeats one more drill, listens to a correction, learns from failure and comes back tomorrow ready to work again.
From the West Indies to New Jersey
Gus Logie’s cricket journey took him from Trinidad & Tobago to the international stage with the West Indies and later into professional coaching.
His visit to Jersey Titans Cricket Academy represents something special about cricket’s growth in the United States: international experience and cricket knowledge being passed directly to the next generation of young players developing their game in New Jersey.
Sustainable grassroots cricket starts with young players who want to learn, parents willing to support them, coaches willing to teach them, and experienced cricket professionals willing to share what they have learned.
Thank You, Gus Logie
Jersey Titans Cricket Academy sincerely thanks Gus Logie for taking the time to meet our players, coaches and families and for sharing his cricket experience and encouragement with the next generation.
We also thank Coach Sanjay Verma, Coach Earl Daley, Coach Kiran Desai and Coach Sudip Jadav for their continued commitment to player development.
And a special thank you to every Jersey Titans parent who continues showing up, supporting their children, driving to practices and games, and helping create opportunities for young cricketers.
βGreat cricketers aren’t developed in one game or one practice. They are developed through discipline, hard work, good coaching, family support and the willingness to keep showing up.β
Keep Learning. Keep Practicing. Keep Improving.
