Three Days with Coach Sanjay Bangar
Jersey Titans Cricket Academy proudly hosted an unforgettable three-day batting camp with former India international cricketer and batting coach Sanjay Bangar.
More than 30 young cricketers from across New Jersey came together at Jersey Titans Cricket Academy for three days of learning, observation, practice, and high-quality batting instruction.
This was not simply three days of hitting cricket balls in the nets. Coach Bangar designed the experience as a progression β beginning with the physical and mental foundation of batting, moving into small technical and tactical improvements, and concluding with advanced skills designed to help players become more adaptable and competitive.
Learning from Coach Sanjay Bangar
Sanjay Bangar is a former Indian international cricketer who represented India in both Test and One Day International cricket. Following his playing career, he built extensive professional coaching experience and served as a batting coach with the Indian national team.
His experience working with professional and international players, combined with his understanding of batting technique, preparation, balance, game awareness, and player development, made this camp a special opportunity for young cricketers in New Jersey.
Stay Grounded
Coach Bangar started the camp with an exercise the young players will likely remember for years.
He asked the players to remove their shoes and walk on the Jersey Titans cricket turf.
The purpose was much deeper than simply walking barefoot. He wanted the players to feel the playing surface, understand their connection with the ground, recognize their body weight and center of gravity, and experience how balance begins from the feet upward.
βStay Grounded β in your stance, in your game, and in your attitude.β
The lesson also went beyond batting technique. Players were encouraged to remain grounded during practice, during a match, and after the match.
Performances change. Scores change. Results change. But discipline, humility, preparation, and the willingness to keep learning should remain constant.
Small Changes. Big Improvements.
Day 2 moved from foundation and mindset into individual skill development. Coach Bangar worked with players to identify one or two small tactical or technical adjustments that could help improve their batting.
Rather than overwhelming a young batter with many instructions at once, the focus was on purposeful improvements players could understand, practice repeatedly, and eventually make part of their natural game.
The goal was not to completely rebuild a young player’s natural style. It was to help each player understand their own batting identity and leave camp with practical improvements they could continue developing.
Advanced Skills β Adapt & Compete
On Day 3, the lessons came together through advanced batting skills and drills designed to help players become more adaptable, confident and competitive.
The Modern Batter Must Keep Thinking
Batting isn’t simply about hitting boundaries. A successful batter is constantly reading the situation and making decisions.
Where are the fielders?
Where are the available gaps?
What does the match situation require?
How can I keep the scoreboard moving?
Training focused on batting timing, bat speed, movement, reading length, adjusting to different bowlers, adapting to pace and spin, rotating the strike, finding gaps, responding to field changes, and building an innings under pressure.
The bigger objective: develop batters who can compete, adapt, keep scoring runs, and give their team a fighting chance in every game.
30+ Players. Three Days. One Memorable Experience.
Three days of learning that progressed from foundation to refinement to competitive application.
